What a sit costs in Paris today

Public numbers do exist. They are averages and ranges, never rate cards. Here is what the operators active in Paris were advertising, recorded in September 2026.

An average of €25 a night does not tell you what you will pay. It blends a studio flat with one cat and a family flat with two dogs and daily medication. It also blends experienced sitters with people starting out, and a night in February with a week in mid-August. Over a fourteen-night sit, the gap between €20 and €33 a night, the range Rover gives for in-home sitting, is the difference between €280 and €462. You have no way of knowing which end you fall on until you have contacted someone.

We know of no operator in Paris who publishes a complete rate card. Here is ours, every line and every figure.

Drop-ins, boarding, overnight stays: three services, three prices

The three arrangements do not deliver the same thing, and comparing their prices without comparing their content leads nowhere. The guide to care arrangements covers the practical differences; here we look only at the money.

The drop-in visit

A scheduled call, usually thirty minutes. Rover puts that visit at around €13 in Paris, recorded in September 2026. The sum works out per day, not per visit: two calls a day come to roughly €26 a day, three calls to roughly €39 a day. Over ten days, two daily visits therefore cost about €260. Between calls the animal is alone, nights included. For a self-sufficient cat over a weekend, that can be enough. For a dog, a two-week absence or medication on a fixed schedule, the maths changes quickly.

Boarding

The animal moves. The price a boarding facility advertises never covers the two round trips you make to drop off and collect, or the time those trips take. We have not recorded a Paris boarding rate we could quote honestly here, and we would rather leave a gap than invent a range.

Overnight stays at home

Someone sleeps in your home every night booked. That is our usual arrangement: we stay in the flat and work remotely from it, so we are there for most of the day. Drop-ins, walks and daytime care we look at case by case. This is the service Rover prices between €20 and €33 a night and Pawshake advertises "from €25 a night".

Our rate card, line by line

The calculation combines the stay base, animals and treatments. Cat offers depend on length. The simulator calculates the rate for your stay, then applies any eligible discount.

Special offer: care for the first cat is €0 instead of €25 per night from 8 nights. From 15 nights, care for the first two cats is €0 instead of €30 per night. The offer removes the €25 base and, from 15 nights with at least two cats, the €5 second-cat supplement. Without a cat, the stay base remains chargeable. Other supplements are still payable. The simulator applies the rate for your chosen duration.

The special-medication supplement counts per animal concerned and is added to that animal's species line. A cat given eye drops twice a day therefore counts €5 a night for the medication, even if it is one of the two included cats.

Discounts depend on length alone:

The discount applies to the amount payable after cat offers, including any remaining base and treatments. The tiers do not stack: a 35-night sit gets 15%, not 20%.

The figure stays an estimate. We confirm it with you before booking, once the dates, the home and the animals are settled at the meet and greet.

Three worked examples

Two cats, ten nights, no medication

The first cat is free. The second remains chargeable through 14 nights: €5 × 10 = €50. For fifteen nights, both cats are free: €0 instead of €450 for their care.

One dog of 10 kg or more, fourteen nights

The stay base is €25 per night and the dog supplement is €15: (€25 + €15) × 14 = €560. No length discount applies before 30 nights.

Three cats, one small dog, one animal on medication, thirty nights

The first two cats are free. The third cat costs €5 per night, the small dog €10 and the treatment €5. The total is (€5 + €10 + €5) × 30 = €600, less 15%, giving €510.

What the advertised price never shows

Platform service fees

On a platform, the amount the sitter advertises and the amount you pay are not the same. Service fees are added at the booking stage, and they do not appear in the search results. Always compare the total at the payment step, never the per-night price on the listing card.

The calendar

We found no public surcharge schedule for school holidays, Christmas or August at any of the operators recorded in September 2026. What is verifiable is how wide the advertised ranges are: €20 to €33 a night at Rover for in-home sitting, €15 to €45 per booking according to Tobalgo. A price advertised "from" is a floor, not a forecast. With us the date changes nothing: the per-night supplement on 24 December is the one that applies on 12 March, and only the length moves the total.

Repeated drop-ins compared with continuous presence

The price of one visit looks modest until you multiply it. At €13 for thirty minutes, two calls a day for fourteen days come to roughly €364, and the animal is alone the rest of the time, nights included. An overnight sit is therefore not comparable to one visit, but to every visit of the trip added together, plus the hours those visits do not cover.

Getting to the boarding facility

A boarding rate is quoted per night or per day. It does not include the two round trips you make, the time they take, or the stress of the journey for the animal. It is an estimate. We meet in person or by video before either of us commits, we go through the animals, the home, access and medication, and the final figure is confirmed together at that point. If your situation falls outside the rate card, say so: we would rather talk it through than adjust a number afterwards.
